Elspeth has been enjoying the sunshine in snappy with trips to the park and the zoo, many a picnic and even a very special wedding at a safari park. There have been lots of strawberries to pick (a few of which made it home), ice creams to eat and flowers to smell. We've all been busy in the garden, which is now fully wheelchair accessible, so Elspeth can whizz up the road and down the ramp to her swing. Also, the garden is now fully fenced and secure, important because we have a new addition to our family in the shape of a waggy cocker spaniel called Cindy. She came to us a few weeks ago and is much loved already. It has become apparent to us on our travels this summer that Elspeth's regular car seat is not suitable for her anymore so we are going to use some of the remaining monies raised to invest in a specialist one to see her through the next few years of adventures. We are really grateful that people were so generous we have money left for this. The other item we are hoping to purchase for Elspeth soon is not as essential but will enable her to spend more time standing, which is good physical therapy, and looks to just loads of fun. The "Upsee" essentially straps a child in a harness to an adult and when they put on their funky 2 person sandals they can walk around together. The thing we are particularly looking forward to doing is taking her paddling in the sea though it looks like it will offer up many other opportunities too. Our good friend Charlie Shawcross is running the Richmond marathon to help fundraise for this, you can send him a message of support here (just don't mention how he was on our list of people we know least likely to take up running). |
